Formula One driver Kimi Raikkonen tests for Ferrari
Formula One Finnish racing driver Kimi Raikkonen, who has signed a 3-year deal with Ferrari from 2007 onwards to 2009, made his debut test for them in damp conditions at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome.
A number of Kimi Raikkonen's fans turned out to see the driver who had been signed to replace Michael Schumacher, drive last year's F248 car and at the same time, fellow Formula One driver Felipe Massa was busy testing the new F2007.
"It was beautiful," Kimi Raikkonen said. "I was a bit choked up but it gave me a kick to be back in a race car."
The Ferrari test had been planned for Mugello but was relocated to Vallelunga due to the weather conditions.
After the test had finished Kimi Raikkonen said it was too early to make any comparisons with the old car he drove at McLaren, but he was nevertheless impressed, however, he added: "So many things are different."
