Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone wants nighttime Grand Prix
Formula One Supermo Bernie Ecclestone has come up with the novel idea of staging the Asian Grands Prix at night.
Bernie Ecclestone thinks that a Asian night race would get a larger television audience because it could be shown in the UK and Europe by day rather than in the early hours of the morning, and he explained: "It would be ideal for Asia, since it would be the right time difference to be broadcast in Europe."
Bernie Ecclestone also backed up his idea by claiming: "It would also be very spectacular, it all depends of course on the circuit."
Bernie Ecclestone said again that he wants to extend the Grand Prix calendar from 17 to 20 motor races, and he added that he could "easily imagine" Mexico, India, Russia holding the events, with South Korea "another candidate".
Bernie Ecclestone explained why he was thinking in terms of other countries and said: "Formula One is very international, it's a world championship, not a championship linked to certain countries. When the standards are not respected we have to go elsewhere."
