Ferrari threaten to leave Formula One racing
Ferrari have issued a threat to leave Formula One racing at the end of the season if the motorsport goes any further with its plan of bringing in an optional £40m budget cap from 2010.
Ferrari said in their statement: "Ferrari does not intend to register cars for the 2010 F1 world championship."
Ferrari are worried that a two-tier system will come about, because there will be Formula One teams who accept the cap and others who reject it.
FIA chief Max Mosley is having discussions with the motorsport teams about this matter next week.
Ferrari have further claimed that they fully intend to stand by their words and added:"If these indispensable principles are not respected, and if the regulations decided for 2010 will not change, Ferrari does not intend to enter its cars."
It remains to be seen what will happen next.
