Ferrari launch new Formula One car
Ferrari have just launched their new 248 Formula One car first seen in testing last week with Michael Schumacher at the wheel.
Michael Schumacher took to the Mugello test track track to show off the
car that Ferrari hope will bring them success again after a miserable
2005.
The new 248 is more compact, lighter and has improved aerodynamics and
suspension and Italian designer Aldo Costa said he was "very happy"
with it.
Ferrari said that South African Rory Byrne, Aldo Costa's predecessor, would be staying on for two more years as a consultant.
Rory Byrne's contract was due to end this year, and Aldo Costa was in charge of developing the new 248 Formula One's design.
Technical director Ross Brawn, who joined Ferrari from Benetton, said:
"We've made the final step we wanted to make where Aldo is totally
responsible."
Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne had both helped Michael Schumacher win his first two titles.
Michael Schumacher, 37, who has considered retiring recently,
hinted that he might not continue beyond this season if Ferrari are not
competitive.
