Ferrari Formula One driver Felipe Massa is top
Ferrari's Formula One racing driver Felipe Massa came top of the standings after the first practice run for the Malaysian Grand Prix and British driver Lewis Hamilton was third.
Felipe Massa took sixth position in the first Australian race of the year, posting a time of 1:34.972 with the McLaren duo of world champion Fernando Alonso (1:35.220) and Lewis Hamilton next.
Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen, who also drives for Ferrari, was the fourth fastest, having crossed the line in 1:36.359 before following that up by going under one minute, 36 seconds, but Felipe Massa was even better than his team-mate away with a lap time of 1:35.265.
Spanish Formula One driver Fernando Alonso was having a difficult time and eventually left the racetrack at turn four on a later run, but in the end he managed to better his earlier time by almost a second.
Felipe Massa, however, then beat his own past effort by going fastest in all three sectors on his way to claiming the only time under one minute, 35 seconds.
Felipe Massa was nearly eight-tenths of a second ahead of Fernando Alonso.
