Ferrari F1 team will not use Kers in the Chinese Grand Prix

ferrariThe Ferrari Formula One team have decided against using the energy storage and power boost system known as Kers (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) at the Chinese Grand Prix despite having had a struggle recently.

In their last two races Ferrari have failed to score any points, and they have had the worst start to the season since way back in 1992.

Ferrari team manager Stefano Domenicali explained that whilst Kers had helped with performance they had had problems with the system in Malaysia, and so he wasn-t happy about trusting it for the important race in China.

Ferrari have become the first team to drop Kers after having tried it out on both Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen's cars in Australia and Malaysia.

Kers works by storing energy from braking, and this energy can then be used by the driver to give a boost of power for up to six seconds per lap.
