F1 driver Christijan Albers dropped by Spyker
Formula One racing team Spyker have dropped Dutch driver Christijan Albers due to a sponsorship problem, it has been reported.
However, Spyker have yet to announce a replacement for Christijan Albers, 28, and the German Grand Prix is due to begin on 22 July.
"This has been a very difficult decision," Spyker team boss Colin Kolles explained, adding: "But the team's ambitious programme has been seriously compromised by non-payment by one of his sponsors and we are faced with no other option."
Christijan Albers was in his second year with Spyker after debuting for Minardi in 2005.
Spyker's director Michiel Mol said: "The decision to replace Christijan is one of the hardest I have had to take since becoming involved in the team.
"We would also like to stress this decision has nothing to do with Christijan's recent performances."
Spyker, who took over the Midland team in 2006, has explained in the past about how it expects drivers to bring their own funding.
