British driver Andy Priaulx wins FIA World Touring Car title
British racing driver Andy Priaulx has claimed another FIA World Touring Car title when he won the final race of the year in Macau.
Andy Priaulx was back in eighth position in his BMW in the first of the two nine-lap races, however, he took control in the second after beginning at pole and his victory also secured a third manufacturers' title for BMW.
Andy Priaulx is reported to have said: "I never give up but I knew it needed something special,
"I have now been in a championship-winning position in the final race of the season for five years in a row.
"We all know you need a bit of luck to win a championship, but also you have to be there to take the luck and today was my lucky day."
Andy Priaulx's title rival, the Brazilian driver Augusto Farfus Jr, crashed into the barrier on the final lap and finished at 26th.
Neither Yvan Muller nor Augusto Farfus was able to take part in the second race and Andy Priaulx went into the lead over Nicola Larini and James Thompson to win the race.
