Barcelona circuit director to take action over Lewis Hamilton's case
The Barcelona circuit director has promised to take action to prevent similar scenes to those that happened when Lewis Hamilton was subjected to racial taunts, from spoiling April's Spanish race.
Lewis Hamilton, 23, had been the victim of abuse whilst he was taking part in pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Racing track boss Ramon Pradera said: "We have already spoken to the FIA assuring them that we will eliminate all racist elements. Although we cannot assure that every fan will behave in the appropriate manner, we will do our best to act."
Reports in the Spanish press had said that Lewis Hamilton was booed and insulted each time he went to go into the pits on Saturday.
The problem stems from the fact that some people in Spain have disliked Lewis Hamilton due to his public disintegrating relationship with former Spanish team-mate Fernando Alonso last season.
Lewis Hamilton was saddened by what had taken place but said he still loved the city of Barcelona.
