BMW Sauber will not challenge McLaren and Ferrari
BMW Sauber Formula One team admit they will not be able to challenge their rivals McLaren and Ferrari at the start of the season in Australia on Sunday.
BMW Sauber manager Mario Theissen explained that although his team were hoping to win this season he didn't think they were ready yet.
Mario Theissen said: "Our target is to continue on the steep slope we had in the past two years and to get closer to the two top teams and win a race this year. And if you ask me about that, I would say we are not there yet."
BMW Sauber's testing performance so far hasn't been that impressive but Mario Theissen nevertheless feels the team are on their way up and he added: "I don't expect us to be in a position to win a race early on in the season but we still have the target to get there in the course of the season."
