US tennis star Serena Williams returns to the action
American tennis star Serena Williams has made her comeback after being away from sport for the last month because she was having and recovering from gum surgery. And Serena Williams returned in style with a straight-sets victory against Tzipora Obziler at the Bangalore Open in India.
Serena Williams now goes forward into the quarter-finals with a 7-5 6-0 win against Israeli player Tzipora Obziler.
Serena Williams next gets to play against Russian Anastasia Rodionova, who defeated sixth-seeded Austrian Sybille Bammer with a 7-6 6-2 win.
Describing her recent game, Serena Williams said: "I am happy to be in India and playing because, to be frank, I am not feeling 100% fit. It took me time to settle down. I started making some errors and the balls were flying."
Serena Williams added: "She definitely gave a lot of pace, but she was not consistent and I did not get my rhythm. The strings were loose (on my racquet) and once I got a tighter one, I played my usual game."
