US tennis star Serena Williams beats Aleksandra Wozniak
American tennis star Serena Williams has defeated Aleksandra Wozniak to get through to the French Open quarter-finals.
21-year-old Wozniak, who comes from Canada, only managed to earn one point in the first three games, and, despite an effort to battle back she was no match for Williams, who claimed a 6-1 6-2 winning score.
Williams had been able to not only beat her Canadian opponent but she did so in an impressive 53 minutes only of top-class playing.
Serena Williams has shown once again that she is back and playing some of her best tennis. So whilst it might be said that Dinara Safina is tipped hotly as a favourite, it looks as if she has some strong competition from the American star.
Williams next goes forward to take on Svetlana Kuznetsova who had beaten Agnieszka Radwanska with a 6-4 1-6 6-1 victory.
