US tennis star Andy Roddick won't be in the Beijing Olympics
American tennis star Andy Roddick says he will not take part in the Beijing Olympics later this year because he wants to put his priority on defending his Legg Mason Classic title in Washington.
The Olympics and the other event will both be held from 11-17 August and Andy Roddick, 25, thinks it will be much better preparation for the US Open if he stays in America.
Andy Roddick explained: "My goal every summer is to win the US Open. I've won the Classic three times and defending my title best prepares me for another grand slam."
Andy Roddick has so far played well for the new season and he claimed his 25th career title last week with a 6-7 (8-10) 6-4 6-2 win against Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the final of the Dubai Championships.
Flushing Meadows was where Andy Roddick's claimed a grand slam success back in 2003, and he wants to win again at this year's US Open, which will take place from 25 August - 7 September.
