US tennis star Andy Roddick splits up with coach Jimmy Connors
US tennis star Andy Roddick has revealed that he has parted company with his coach Jimmy Connors after he defeated world number two Rafael Nadal 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 at the Dubai Open.
Andy Roddick, 25, had got together with Jimmy Connors in July 2006 but he cited "logistical reasons" for the split now.
Andy Roddick said: "Jimmy resigned, about a week ago. I think it was tough for him to do it part-time. I'm sad but thankful for the time he took out of retirement to give to me."
Speculation had circulated about Andy Roddick and Jimmy Connors relationship after the coach turned up late for the Australian Open, in which Andy Roddick was beaten in the third round by Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Jimmy Connors has been said to have successfully got Andy Roddick confident and optimistic about his career after a lull, and with helping him get through to the final of the US Open in 2006.
