US tennis player Mardy Fish beats Swiss star Roger Federer
American tennis player Mardy Fish put on an incredible performance when he defeated Swiss star Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells.
World number 98 Mardy Fish, who was unseeded, claimed an easy 6-3 6-2 win against world number one Roger Federer.
Mardy Fish next faces third seed Novak Djokovic in Sunday's final.
Mardy Fish is the lowest-ranked tennis player to beat Roger Federer since Richard Gasquet, defeated him at Monte Carlo in 2005.
Mardy Fish had never managed to beat Roger Federer on five previous occasions they had played against each other, but this time he was clearly in command and won in just over an hour.
Roger Federer had only praise for Mardy Fish's winning display and he said: "I have a great record against him and I have always controlled matches against him. Today was different, a tough result. He came up playing very, very well."
