Tim Henman starts well in Madrid Masters

Tim Henman has just made a very fine start to the Madrid Masters Series with a clinical 6-2 6-4 first-round win over American Taylor Dent.

The 31-year-old tennis star, in danger of spoiling his record of finishing in the top 20 and reaching at least one ATP final in each of the last eight years, was in a determined mood.

Tim Henman out-thought and outplayed the powerful Californian Taylor Dent on the centre court at the Madrid Arena.

"I was very happy with my level of play," said Tim Henman.

"Hopefully I can build on this in the last few tournaments as I'm feeling better and better on court.

"I'm happy with the way I'm hitting the ball. I feel motivated but having played so little I still feel pretty fresh and in a good frame of mind," Tim Henman added.
