Tim Henman battles back and Andre Agassi is defeated
Tim Henman started his US Open build-up with a second-round victory against qualifier Phillip King in the Legg Mason Classic in Washington.
Tim Henman was defeated in the first set on a tie-break but fought back to claim a 6-7 6-3 7-5 win against rank outsider Phillip King, who is ranked 387 in the world.
Tim Henman will now face Janko Tipsarevic or Jan-Michael Gambill in the third round.
Five-times champion and fourth seed tennis veteran Andre Agassi, 36, lost in straight sets to Italian qualifier Andrea Stoppini.
Andre Agassi, who was making his 17th and final appearance at the Washington event, had no way of combating Andrea Stoppini's strong performance and lost 6-4 6-3 in 62 minutes.
Andre Agassi said: "I was very frustrated. I wanted really bad to get out there and be comfortable and hit my shots.
"But I felt with every point the court got smaller and smaller. I had a harder time keeping the ball in the court. I never found my rhythm."
