Tennis star Venus Williams in winning form at Wimbledon
American tennis star Venus Williams has qualified for the Wimbledon semi-finals with a 6-3 6-4 victory against Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Venus Williams, 27, will next face Ana Ivanovic or Nicole Vaidisova in the last four.
Venus Williams, commenting on her recent success, is reported to have said: "I was able to stay tough against a great opponent,
"I felt so motivated and just tried to take my time when the wind was gusting, but it was in all directions and was a challenge."
Venus Williams, who has only played in seven tournaments this season, clearly called on her past experience and abilities to win through this time. Venus Williams had gained 76% of points on her first serve, and maintained her control to complete the set.
There was a tricky moment though for Venus Williams when the strong winds on a roofless Centre gave her problems and Svetlana Kuznetsova took advantage of the situation to come back fighting.
Venus Williams was soon back on top of the game though and won through to her first Grand Slam semi-final since she had been victorious at Wimbledon back in 2005.
