Tennis star Roger Federer wins but only just at Monte Carlo
Swiss tennis star Roger Federer justified his poor performance on a poor surface when he just managed to beat Italian Andreas Seppi at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Roger Federer also blamed his own rustiness on the claycourt, although he nevertheless eventually defeated Andreas Seppi 7-6 7-6 to reach round three.
Roger Federer said: "It was tough. There were a lot of bad bounces and he had already three matches in his legs."
Roger Federer now goes forward to play against South Korean Lee Hyung-taik.
Roger Federer has had some other problems with his recent games including early defeats in the first two Masters events of the season, losing in both Indian Wells and Miami to Argentine Guillermo Canas, and he said: "It happens, and I have to put it down to my first match on clay in 10 months."
