Tennis star Rafael Nadal expects to be fit for Australian Open
World number two tennis star Rafael Nadal expects to be recovered enough for next week's Australian Open in spite of withdrawing from a warm-up event in Sydney due to a groin problem.
Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, 20, trailed behind Chris Guccione 6-5 in the first set of their first-round match at the Sydney International when it became obvious he could not go on with the game. Rafael Nadal required medical treatment twice in his match against Chris Guccione before conceding.
"I will have some treatment on it Wednesday and will hope to be 100% fit for next week," said Rafael Nadal, and he added that: "The Australian Open is a priority."
Rafael Nadal had to miss out on last year's Australian Open because of an injured foot.
Further problems hampered French Open champion Rafael Nadal when he lost in the semi-finals in last week's Chennai Open in India and there were unconfirmed reports that he was suffering from an injury.
