Tennis star Nikolay Davydenko wins appeal
Russian tennis star Nikolay Davydenko has won his appeal following accusations of him not trying hard enough during a match.
Nikolay Davydenko had received a $2000 (£976) penalty from the tennis governing body the ATP after a three-set loss to Croatian player Marin Cilic at the St Petersburg Open in September.
However, following a video review of the match footage Nikolay Davydenko's fine has been rescinded.
But Nikolay Davydenko is also being investigated by the ATP because of irregular betting patterns said to have occurred in a match he played.
Nikolay Davydenko, who is presently taking part in the season finale Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai, has recently been the subject of a series of controversies.
Nikolay Davydenko had been originally fined for "lack of best effort" in his 1-6 7-5 6-1 defeat by Marin Cilic, which he had explained was caused because his "legs were dead" and at the Paris Masters on 1 November, he was told by umpire Cedric Mourier to "try your best" after the official wasn't happy with him serving so many double faults.
