Tennis star Kim Clijsters withdraws from Paris Open de Gaz
Tennis star Kim Clijsters has withdrawn from next week's Open Gaz de France in Paris because of a hip injury and she made the announcement on her website in the diary.
Kim Clijsters, 23, explained that she wants to make sure she is fit and recovered enough for the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp, Belgium, which event marks her final participation in tennis in before retiring at the end of the year.
On her website Kim Clijsters said: "Unfortunately, I will have to miss the Paris tournament.
"Otherwise, I would endanger my participation in Antwerp, and that is something which I want to avoid at all costs."
Kim Clijsters said she would use the extra week to get ready for her wedding to Brian Lynch, an American basketball player.
Kim Clijsters has had a lot of problems in her tennis career due to ankle, knee and back problems.
