Tennis star James Blake beats Marat Safin

jamesblake Tennis star James Blake defeated Marat Safin 3-6 6-4 7-6 (7-3) and reached the final of the Thailand Open in Bangkok.

James Blake will next play against top seed Ivan Ljubicic, who pushed aside Paradorn Srichaphan 6-3 6-2.

In the doubles, Andy Murray was teamed up with his brother Jamie to go through into the finals following a 6-4 6-2 win over third seeds Chris Haggard and Jordan Kerr.

Andy Murray said: "I don't play much doubles but this was a great opportunity to team up with my brother.

"He specialises in doubles so he is showing me the ropes and, so far, he has done a pretty good job.

"He is a great volleyer and I have pretty solid returns so we have managed to get some good wins and Jamie has broken into the top 100 doubles rankings for the first time."

And James Blake paid tribute to Marat Safin after his battling performance and endurance.

"When he's on his best he can give everyone fits. I had to weather the storm," James Blake said.
