Tennis star Andy Murray loses to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Scottish tennis star Andy Murray has been beaten in the Australian Open in the first round by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with a score of 7-5 6-4 0-6 7-6 (7-5).
French player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is ranked 38th in the world, was in command of the game from early on and he went two sets up before Andy Murray made a brief comeback in the third set.
And then the fourth set was a tie-break before Jo-Wilfried Tsonga went om to win although he was suffering from a thigh injury.
Andy Murray, who had won the Qatar Open before the tournament and seemed to be playing well then, admitted he wasn't at his best but he did not think it was due to his lack of fitness or training and he said: "I don't think it's anything to do with not getting to Australia early enough."
Nevertheless it was a very disappointing result for Andy Murray, who had been thinking optimistically of winning his first Grand Slam title.
