Tennis player Goran Ivanisevic prepared for Davis Cup
Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic is ready to play doubles for
Croatia in December's Davis Cup final against Slovakia if need be.
Goran Ivanisevic said: "I don't want to be there only because I did
certain things for Croatian tennis. Being a decoration doesn't interest
me.
"I will play only if the coach thinks I can help. The Davis Cup lasts for three days and anything is possible."
Goran Ivanisevic was called out of retirement by the Croatia team captain Niki Pilic.
Croatia are led by Ivan Ljubicic, ranked 11th in the world, and Mario Ancic.
Goran Ivanisevic believes he could play in the doubles if Mario Ancic
or Ivan Ljubicic got into trouble after the first day due to injuries
or exhaustion.
"I would not play singles, since I haven't played a singles match on that level for a long while," he added.
Goran Ivanisevic had already qualified for November's Champions Masters
at the Royal Albert Hall, but it clashes with the Davis Cup final,
which takes place over the weekend of 2-4 December.
