Kremlin Cup in Moscow - Greg Rusedski is out Greg
Rusedski has bungled and after making 28 unforced errors has lost to
the unseeded Russian Igor Kunitsyn, 7-6, 6-3, and is out of the Kremlin
Cup in Moscow.
In the first set's third game Igor Kunitsyn
threatened to break the Briton's serve but Greg Rusedski managed to
hold his own and took the advantage to go 2-1 up.
The
players continued neck and neck but in the tie break Igor Kunitsyn took
it 7-5. He won the first game second set easily enough and had the
advantage in the second but failed to capitalize as Greg Rusedski
levelled the score.
Then, in the eighth game of the second
set, by making sure his shots were more accurate, Igor Kunitsyn was 5-3
ahead and he held on all the way to take the match in one hour and 24
minutes.
"The court seems a little slower than last year and
he played really well," said Greg Rusedski, speaking of his opponent.
"I have to give him credit."
The defeat comes as a serious blow to Greg Rusedski's hopes of overtaking Tim Henman as the British number one.
It was a very disappointing result for Greg Rusedski but leaves a victorious Igor Kunitsyn to celebrate his win.
