Swiss tennis star Roger Federer injures foot

RogerFedererSwiss tennis star and World No. 1 Roger Federer has injured his foot and is expected to be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.

A statement on Roger Federer's website says he damaged a ligament in his foot while trying to hit a forehand drive shot. He won't be playing in the Madrid Masters next week and the Swiss Indoors the week after that, but should be ready for the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup to be played in November in Shanghai.

"I'm extremely disappointed, above all that I can't play at home for the second straight year in Basel," Roger Federer said. "But I'm hoping to go to Shanghai again perfectly fit."
