Swiss star Roger Federer goes forward at Monte Carlo Masters
Swiss tennis star Roger Federer came close to losing to Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo from Spain but the world number battled his way back to win and go forward into round three of the Monte Carlo Masters.
Ruben Hidalgo really looked as if he was going to be the winner when he was in the lead 5-1 and 30-15 up, however, Roger Federer then won five straight games to force a tie-break, which he won with a final 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-1) score.
Roger Federer admitted: "I'm disappointed by the way I played. I could have lost but I got through and it's six matches and six wins on clay so I'm happy."
And after he was given a first-round bye, Roger Federer twice came within just two points of losing to his Spanish opponent.
It has been a very disappointing season so far in comparison with Roger Federer's usual excellent performance and results but at least he won this last match.
