Swiss star Roger Federer beats Novak Djokovic
Swiss tennis star Roger Federer said he was thinking about his chances with the all-time record for Grand Slam victories after he won his 12th at the US Open on Sunday.
Roger Federer, 26, defeated 20-year-old Novak Djokovic 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 in the final and this means that Roger Federer is just two more Grand Slam victories from equalling the record set by Pete Sampras with 14 wins.
Veteran player Roger Federer said: "To come so close already at my age is fantastic - I really hope to break it.
"I don't know (how many I can win). I hope more than Pete."
Roger Federer is now the first tennis star since Bill Tilden in the 1920s to win four consecutive US Open titles, although he had to come from a break down in all three sets against Serbian opponent Novak Djokovic.
Roger Federer said: "A lot of pressure for both of us. He made it hard for me in the beginning. All in all, I'm happy with my performance."
