Swiss star Roger Federer beats Guillermo Canas
Top Swiss tennis player Roger Federer put on a winning performance when he beat Guillermo Canas in straight sets at the Rome Masters with a 6-3 6-3 score.
For Federer it was an important victory after being defeated by Canas last time they met. The top seeded Swiss star has so far played well on the clay this year, taking the title in Estoril and finishing runner-up to Rafael Nadal in Monte Carlo.
Roger Federer appeared confident in this encounter with Guillermo Canas and his confidence was well founded as it turned out.
Federer said after the game that he was glad to be back playing at his best after he went down with glandular fever at the start of the season.
Roger Federer, who next will be playing against either Potito Starace or Ivo Karlovic, said: "I'm back in my stride again and feel like I'm playing well and nothing ever happened."
