Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg for Belfast 2008

borg Swedish tennis legend and five-times Wimbledon champion Björn Borg has confirmed he will make his first appearance ever in Belfast in 2008.

Björn Borg will be playing alongside fellow tennis veteran John McEnroe as well as last year's finalist Henri Leconte in the Black Rock Tour of Champions event, which takes place from 21-24 February.

Björn Borg said: "This will be my first time in Belfast and I always love to visit cities for the first time,"

"I spoke with Anders Jarryd, who won the title last year in Belfast, and he said it was an unbelievable event."

Björn Borg had won five straight Wimbledon titles and defeated John McEnroe in the 1980 final.

Björn Borg also said: "John and I played some great matches and helped tennis grow to a different level - everyone remembers our matches."

And Björn Borg concluded: "Every time I play John it is special because I know that sooner or later it will have to come to an end."
