Spanish star Rafael Nadal beats David Ferrer in Barcelona
Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal continued his success in the clay-court season with a victory against compatriot David Ferrer in the final of the Barcelona Open.
Nadal won the title for the fourth consecutive year with a 6-1 4-6 6-1 triumph over his opponent.
But he didn't have it all his own way and after doing well in the first set, Nadal dropped serve twice allowing Ferrer to take the second.
Rafael Nadal recovered his form in the decider match, winning the game in two hours 14 minutes.
Nadal now goes into next week's Rome Masters hotly tipped.
Rafael Nadal has now been the winner of 103 of 104 matches on clay since 2005, with the only time he lost was when he faced Roger Federer in Hamburg last year.
After it was over a delighted Nadal said: "The first set I played very well, almost perfect, but he was very strong in the second set and I am just very happy to have won here again."
