Serena Williams beats Jarmila Groth at Wimbledon

serena williamsUS tennis star Serena Williams is through to the third round of Wimbledon after she claimed a 6-2 6-1 victory against Jarmila Groth from Australia.

27-year-old Williams won the first set on Court One with no problems at all and broke 22-year-old Groth in the fourth and eighth games.

Williams, who was runner-up at last year's tournament and seeded second this time, claimed her victory against her Australian opponent in just 57 minutes.

On her way to winning, Williams made her break in the fourth game of the first set and went on to secure her win in game eight after three double faults made by Groth.

Williams has had her route to the final made a lot simpler due to Maria Sharapova getting defeated by Argentinean player Gisela Dulko but she sympathised with the Russian star losing out on her chances.
