Serena Williams beats Anastasia Myskina marking a great return to tennis
Serena Williams claimed a 6-2 6-2 win over Anastasia Myskina marking a great return to tennis with her first match in six months at the WTA event in Cincinnati.
American tennis star Serena Williams, 24, hasn't played since the Australian Open in January due to a knee injury and her world ranking had fallen to 140.
But Serena Williams returned in impressive style with serves of about the 120-mph region that left Anastasia Myskina in great trouble.
Serena Williams broke three times in the first set and repeated this in the next one.
"I felt really relaxed," said Serena Williams. "I haven't felt this way in a long time."
"I almost could have played Wimbledon," Serena Williams added.
"I was about 60 or 70% then. But I probably would have had an embarrassing loss."
Serena Williams said that the power of her own service came as a great surprise to her.
"I was surprised myself, because I wasn't serving that well in practice," said Serena Williams, and she added that she intends to do something about the slump in the ratings she had suffered:
"It's devastating," said Serena Williams," But I have no pressure on me. I have nowhere to go but up."
