Serbian tennis star Jelena Jankovic injures thigh

jelena Serbian tennis star Jelena Jankovic has suffered an injury ahead of the Australian Open when she hurt her thigh whilst playing in the Hopman Cup in Perth.

Jelena Jankovic had to give up in the second game against French player Tatiana Golovin.

Although Jelena Jankovic, 22, made a brief comeback to win the mixed doubles with fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic, she was clearly experiencing problems.

Jelena Jankovic is reported to have said: "It was like somebody put a knife in my glute. It was really, really painful."

Jelena Jankovic went on to add: "I stretched to hit a backhand I think and went back to push off to the next side and that's where I felt really sharp pain.

"I have to be ready for Melbourne, which is most important and I don't want to risk any kind of injury."

Although Jelena Jankovic and Novak Djokovic's doubles victory marked a 2-1 win for their country against France in the mixed team competition, Jelena Jankovic is still undecided about carrying on in the event.
