Serbian star Ana Ivanovic beats Svetlana Kuznetsova in Indian Wells
Top seeded Serbian tennis star Ana Ivanovic has defeated Russian player Svetlana Kuznetsova with an impressive performance at the finals of the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells.
Ana Ivanovic, 20, won 6-4 6-3, and this victory marks the sixth title so far that she has won.
Ana Ivanovic played a tight first set with the only break in game nine, and she played strongly to score nine straight points on her way to a triumphant win.
Ana Ivanovic ended the game with 30 winners in comparison with 22-year-old Svetlana's Kuznetsova's 14, and afterwards she said proudly: "This feels amazing."
And Svetlana Kuznetsova commented, praising her opponent's skill: "It's painful any time you lose but I prefer to get to the final and lose. I think she played incredibly well in the first set, every important point she hit the ball on the line."
Ana Ivanovic has now won five of her six games with Svetlana Kuznetsova, and has traded the second and third spots in the world rankings this year with her too.
