Serb tennis star Jelena Jankovic beats Nadia Petrova
Serb tennis star Jelena Jankovic defeated Nadia Petrova with a 6-4 6-3 score to become the winner of the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
23-year-old Jankovic, who is now the new world number one, had already won last week's China Open and she beat her Russian opponent in 83 minutes, claiming her eighth career title in the process.
She also won a red Porsche 911 awarded by the sponsors of the event.
Jelena Jankovic already had made sure of her new top spot in world tennis, which she has taken from Serena Williams no matter whether she won the match against Petrova or not.
But Jankovic had needed painkillers before her semi-final victory because she had badly injured her toe when she lost the nail and had to have more treatment before the final. It must have worked well because she won the match.
Jankovic is scheduled to take part in next week's Kremlin Cup.
