Russian tennis star Nikolay Davydenko in trouble again
Russian tennis star Nikolay Davydenko is in trouble again after losing to Marcos Baghdatis at the Paris Masters.
Umpire Cedric Mourier told Nikolay Davydenko to try harder and had asked him why he was serving so many double faults, whilst at the St Petersburg Open, Nikolay Davydenko had been fined $2,000 (£976) for not trying hard enough against his opponent Marin Cilic.
The ATP is already investigating Nikolay Davydenko over a match in Poland back in August that had shown betting irregularities. Internet betting exchange Betfair had actually voided bets on that match between Nikolay Davydenko and the 87th-ranked Argentinean player Martin Vassallo Arguello.
Nevertheless, in St Petersburg, Nikolay Davydenko had protested his innocence of any involvement in the betting matter.
But then following his 6-2 6-2 defeat on Thursday, when Baghdatis asked him "What's wrong?" Nikolay Davydenko is reported to have answered: "I don't know".
