Russian tennis star Mikhail Youzhny thrashes Rafael Nadal
Russian tennis star Mikhail Youzhny thrashed top seed Rafael Nadal with a 6-0 6-1 victory in the final of the Chennai Open.
Rafael Nadal, 21, hadn't gotten over the four-hour semi-final against fellow Spaniard Carlos Moya and it showed.
Rafael Nadal lost all three service games in the opening set and went on to ask for medical treatment at 4-1 down in the second set.
Mikhail Youzhny, who is world number 19, finished the game in only 58 minutes of play for the fourth title of his career.
Afterwards, Rafael Nadal, however, played down that he was the worse for wear because of the match against Carlos Moya and he said: "There is nothing wrong with me - I called the trainer because I was feeling tired."
Rafael Nadal added: "Mikhail played unbelievable tennis and deserved to win."
Whatever the real reason was Mikhail Youzhny responded saying: "This victory is a present from Rafael."
