Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova is fully fit ahead of Acura Classic
Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova says she is back to full fitness before this week's Acura Classic in San Diego starts and she is seeded two, behind the other losing Wimbledon semi-finalist, Kim Clijsters.
19-year-old Maria Sharapova has been struggling with an ankle injury since April but says she is no longer in need of regular treatment.
"The past two weeks have been the first time that I've had full practice where I didn't need to see the trainer every day," said the world number four Maria Sharapova.
Maria Sharapova will play against fellow Russian Vasilisa Bardina in her first match.
"I'm excited going into a tournament feeling healthy and playing pretty well," added Maria Sharapova, who has not won a tournament since Indian Wells in March.
Maria Sharapova has not played competitively since she lost in the Wimbledon semi-finals to the eventual champion Amelie Mauresmo.
