Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova beats Viktoriya Kutuzova
 Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova played well and managed to defeat Viktoriya Kutuzova with a 7-5 6-4 victory at Wimbledon.
Sharapova is finding her feet again following recovery from shoulder surgery and she was 4-1 and 5-3 down at the beginning, although she then battled back to win the set against her Ukrainian opponent.
Sharapova only made her return to tennis earlier this year following being away for nine months so she could recover after an operation on her shoulder.
With her victory against the Ukrainian, Sharapova was delighted to have managed to have got back some of her past skills and to have demonstrated that she still can play as well as she has done in her past incredible career in the sport.
Indian tennis star Sania Mirza also was successful in beating German player Anna-Lena Groenefeld with a 6-2 2-6 6-2 score.
