Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova beats Kim Clijsters
Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova defeated Kim Clijsters 6-4 6-2 in the semi finals of the Australian Open at the Rod Laver Arena, and she now looks forward to playing Serena Williams in the finals.
Maria Sharapova made her victory in just 82 minutes of play, split into two sets lasting 42 minutes and 40 minutes respectively.
Maria Sharapova was certainly performing in an aggressive way as she beat Kim Clijsters in the second semi-final.
Maria Sharapova's first serve and powerful ground strokes proved too much for Kim Clijsters.
Maria Sharapova said: "I managed to find the big first serves when I needed them."
However, Maria Sharapova added: "I am a little sad as Kim's such a great girl, and such a great champion on and off the court. She has a lot ahead of her in her off-court life and I think we all wish her the best."
