Russian tennis star Dinara Safina beats Vitalia Diatchenko
Russian tennis star Dinara Safina claimed a 6-1 6-1 win against Vitalia Diatchenko, and goes forward now to the third round of the French Open.
Safina, who is the current world number one, showed why she has that title when she defeated her fellow Russian 5-0 in the first set.
Diatchenko did her best to fight back at the end of the first set, when she won a game on her own serve, and then again at the start of the second set she managed to break Safina.
But 18-year-old Diatchenko, who is ranked way down at 153, had no chance really against Safina, who claimed victory in just 55 minutes on the court, and in so doing, extended her current run of success to 17 matches with this clear-cut win.
Safina will next be playing against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who defeated French star Julie Coin with a 6-2 7-6 (7-2) victory.
