Russian Nikolay Davydenko reaches semis
Russian tennis star Nikolay Davydenko was the first player to reach the semi-finals of the US Open when he defeated Germany's Tommy Haas.
Nikolay Davydenko, 26, won easily against Tommy Haas with a 6-3 6-3 6-4 result to go forward to a last-four meeting against world number one Roger Federer.
Nikolay Davydenko had to battle back from being two sets down to win against Tommy Haas at the same stage last year but this year there was no doubts about who would be the winner.
Nikolay Davydenko said: "If you win everything in three sets you are still feeling tired but mentally not so tired," Davydenko said.
"For me, if I play less hours it's good for me."
And Tommy Haas had no hard feelings but praised Nikolay Davydenko's skill saying: "The guy's a tough player."
Nikolay Davydenko is now the top ranked Russian male tennis player, fourth in the world, and he holds ten ATP singles titles.
