Russian Nadia Petrova beats Patty Schnyder from Switzerland

nadiapetrova Russian tennis star Nadia Petrova won her second successive WTA Tour title of the season after a three-set triumph over Swiss player Patty Schnyder.

Nadia Petrova, who won her last tournament in Doha, Qatar, held off Patty Schynder 6-3 4-6 6-1 to claim victory at the Family Circle Cup.

Patty Schnyder had been a surprise finalist after she had won over defending champion Justine Henin-Hardenne, however, despite fighting back from a set down to gain a deciding set, she lost out against Nadia Petrova.

The win was Nadia Petrova's third title of the season and she also won in Amelia Island, Florida, in March.

"I must say I can't believe I've done it," said Nadia Petrova. "I was really feeling bad today, I think it was the heat.

"In the second set I had difficulties to move on court but then in the third set I suddenly I was three-love up, and I decided I would just give everything I have," Nadia Petrova added.
