Roger Federer beats Andy Roddick to face Rafael Nadal

roger Swiss tennis star Roger Federer was playing at some of his best ability and it showed as he beat Andy Roddick 6-4 6-2 and now goes ahead to the semi-final against Rafael Nadal at the Masters Cup in Shanghai.

Roger Federer had already reached the last four whether he defeated Andy Roddick or not, but he still gave it his all and out-manoeuvred his opponent throughout the game.

However, all is not lost for Andy Roddick who was through to the last four and who will now play against David Ferrer in Saturday's other semi-final.

It was not all plain sailing though, and Roger Federer had lost his opening match against Fernando Gonzalez but he recovered his form to take on Andy Roddick, getting the straight-sets win he required.

Andy Roddick played well but never had the upper hand and a number of poor shots at crucial stages of the match gave Roger Federer a clear advantage.

A proud and victorious Roger Federer said: "I was impressed with my own performance."
