Nikolay Davydenko gets place at Shanghai Masters Cup
Russian tennis star Nikolay Davydenko became the fifth player to confirm his place at the season-closing Masters Cup in Shanghai.
In spite of an early exit from last week's St Petersburg Open, other results meant Nikolay Davydenko now qualifies for the £2m event.
David Nalbandian, James Blake, Tommy Robredo, Fernando Gonzalez, Mario Ancic, Tommy Haas and Tomas Berdych are other tennis stars also bidding for the remaining three places and this week's Paris Masters is the last qualification event for the Masters Cup, which begins on 12 November.
David Nalbandian, James Blake and Tommy Robredo are presently occupying the qualification spots, with Fernando Gonzalez and Mario Ancic closing after great performances last week.
Marcos Baghdatis is ahead of Tommy Haas and Tomas Berdych in the ATP rankings but will miss the Paris Masters because of injury.
Besides Nikolay Davydenko, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Ivan Ljubicic and Andy Roddick have already qualified for the Masters Cup tournament.
