Maria Sharapova for rematch with Martina Hingis
Maria Sharapova will be playing against Martina Hingis for the third
time this season after beating German tennis player Anna-Lena
Groenefeld 6-1 6-3 in Indian Wells.
Martina Hingis had won against Dinara Safina 6-3 6-4 to go through to
her fourth semi-final in seven events following her return to tennis.
The former world number one had beaten Maria Sharapova when they first
met in Tokyo, but the Russian star took her revenge at the Dubai
semi-finals.
"I'm playing a great champion, someone that's achieved a lot," said Maria Sharapova.
"And she's still young. Any opponent that I see across the net, I
cannot think about whether they're terrible or they're great. I can't
put that in my mind."
On Thursday at the quarter-finals, Justine Henin-Hardenne will face
Argentina's Gisela Dulko, and Russian Elena Dementieva will be playing
against Ana Ivanovic from Serbia.
