Justine Henin beats Svetlana Kuznetsova in US Open

henin Belgian tennis star Justine Henin won her second US Open and seventh Grand Slam title when she beat Russian player Svetlana Kuznetsova with a 6-1 6-3 win in Saturday's final.

Justin Henin, 25, entered the match already having a 14-2 record against Svetlana Kuznetsova, and also having impressively defeated Serena and Venus Williams in her last two contests.

Justine Henin kept true to her past form and she easily dominated the first set and then kept up her control of the game in the second set to win again the title she first claimed in 2003.

Justine Henin proudly said: "It's such a great feeling - my first win four years ago was an amazing memory and this is just fantastic,"

"I want to thank my coach Carlos Rodriguez who has made me a better player and a better person."

Svetlana Kuznetsova, who had also won the title in 2004, has been performing well enough lately to make sure she will be ranked second in the world, but she was no match for Justine Henin.
