Injured tennis star Andy Murray withdraws from French Open
Injured Scottish tennis star Andy Murray has had to admit he will not be able to take part in the French Open and is even in some doubt about appearing at Wimbledon in June.
Andy Murray injured his wrist at the Hamburg Masters last week in the first round, when he was leading Filippo Volandri 5-1, but it has not healed up sufficiently.
Andy Murray explained on his Internet website: "I saw the doctor yesterday and as I expected I'm going to have to withdraw.
"The good news is I got the cast off and will start treatment tomorrow and take it day by day."
X-rays revealed that Andy Murray hadn't broken any bones but the inflammation was sufficient for him to be required to wear a cast.
Wimbledon begins in the last week of June, and Andy Murray is due to play at the Stella Artois tournament at Queen's from 11 June, however, whether he does or not remains to be seen, and he added: "I'm not going to make any decisions on the grass yet."
